Violinist Alexandru Tomescu is a 20-year Concert Soloist of the Romanian Radio Orchestra and a Knight of the National Order of Merit.

Since his 1985 debut, Alexandru Tomescu has cultivated a successful musical career, performing in renowned venues worldwide, including the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Metropolitan Arts Centre in Tokyo, as well as with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Cadogan Hall under conductors like Valery Gergiev, Kurt Masur, and Christoph Eschenbach. He is a winner of the „George Enescu” International Competition. The commitment the violinist undertook in 2007, when he won the right to play and received the Stradivarius Elder-Voicu violin, a National Heritage Object, Treasury category, was to familiarize as many Romanians as possible with the sound of the splendid instrument. After nearly 20 years of an almost uninterrupted series of concerts in Romania and around the world, the violinist's name and his violin have become perfectly synonymous. He also conceived and developed the Stradivarius International Tour, a significant initiative promoting classical music and young artists. This annual project has been running for 18 years. Each year, it includes over 20 concerts in both urban and rural locations, spans four weeks, and covers thousands of kilometers. The tour gathers thousands of spectators at sold-out concerts and reaches tens of thousands more viewers through online platforms, social media, and television.

Alongside guitarist Dragoș Ilie, Alexandru also leads Master Classes for violin and classical guitar. Beyond performing, he actively engages in an intense dialogue with his audience. He serves as an ambassador for the Romanian Radio Musical campaign – „Listen to 5 Minutes of Classical Music”. Furthermore, he holds the esteemed position of permanent elite concert soloist with the Romanian Radio Orchestra, with whom he has performed in numerous concerts both in Romania and abroad.
