
Simona Strungaru is a versatile musical artist, encompassing the roles of pianist, orchestra conductor, orchestrator, and composer. Since 2022, she has been the conductor of the Romanian Radio Big Band and a member of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania. Simona Strungaru has conducted a wide range of musical groups, including the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra, the Hungarian Opera Orchestra of Cluj-Napoca, the Banatul Philharmonic Orchestra and the Timișoara Big Band, the Orchestra and Choir of the Târgu Mureș Philharmonic, the Orchestra and Choir of the Oltenia Philharmonic in Craiova, the Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Botoșani Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra, and numerous others. In 2021, she was invited to take on the roles of composer and orchestrator for the Balkan Youth Jazz Orchestra in Montenegro. She is the permanent conductor of the SonoMania contemporary music ensemble, with which she participates in festivals such as the International New Music Week, Innersound, the Meridian Festival, the Cluj Modern Festival, the Romanian Music Festival in Iași, and Bucharest Gaming Week.
Simona Strungaru has collaborated with SonoMania to produce the contemporary opera projects Fidelio ești tu (2020) and Opera in Your Pocket (2022), and she has also composed music for numerous silent films, presenting cine-concerts at festivals such as the La Rochelle Cinema Festival, TIFF, the Animest International Animation Film Festival, and the German Film Festival, as well as at the GOPO Awards Gala.
