Swiss tenor Mauro Peter is one of the most sought-after tenors of his generation. Born in Lucerne, he studied at Munich College of Music and The Arts. In 2012, he won first prize and the audience prize at the International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau. He gave his acclaimed recital debut at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg with Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin. Since then, he has regularly given recitals throughout Europe and has performed in leading concert halls and opera houses worldwide.

Most recently, Mauro Peter performed Haydn’s Die Jahreszeiten in Copenhagen and Graz and sang the role of the Prince in the new production of Prokofiev’s Love of Three Oranges at the Semperoper Dresden. Together with pianist Joseph Middleton and soprano Louise Alder, he also performed Hugo Wolf’s Italienische Liederbuch as part of a tour. Mauro Peter has already worked with renowned conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Kent Nagano, Andris Nelsons, Trevor Pinnock and others. He also has an extensive discography. In addition to many other recordings, he has recorded Franz Schubert’s Goethe Lieder and Robert Schumann’s Lieder with his musical partner, pianist Helmut Deutsch, for Sony Classical.
