SonoMania, a new musical ensemble based in Bucharest, was founded in 2012 by the composer Diana Rotaru. With the enthusiasm, talent, and remarkable dedication of its members as its driving force, the ensemble seeks to expand the reach of modern and contemporary music to a wider audience.
With a keen interest in concerts that integrate various artistic disciplines (multimedia, photography, dance, performance), the SonoMania Ensemble is also dedicated to showcasing the work of young Romanian new music creators. Their performances feature both new compositions and established pieces from the 20th century.
SonoMania has been included so far in international contemporary music festivals, such as the International New Music Week in Bucharest (2012, 2013, 2016, 2022, 2023), the InnerSound New Arts Festival (Bucharest, 2012-2016), the Bucharest Musical Film Festival - ArCuB (2012-2014), Cluj Musical Autumn (Cluj 2016), the Musical Craiova Festival (Craiova, 2016), CIMRO DAYS (Bucharest, 2014), the 18th Contemporary Music Festival - Happoman 2012 (South Korea), the MERIDIAN ISCM-Romanian Section International Festival (Bucharest, 2012-2016, 2021), the Bucharest Contemporary Arts Biennial (2012), the Catsheuvel Festival (The Hague, 2014), the White Night of Art Galleries (Bucharest, September 30, 2016), the Romanian Music Festival - Iași 2022, and the „TRIESTE PRIMA!” Contemporary Music Festival 2020.
