Born on December 8, 1995, in Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Andrei Stănculescu is a Romanian conductor with an active career both nationally and internationally. He currently serves as assistant conductor of the Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra, conductor of the Chamber Choir “Preludiu – Voicu Enăchescu”, guest conductor of the Romanian National Youth Orchestra, and founder and conductor of the Rubato Choir. In Romania, he collaborates regularly with major institutions such as the Sibiu State Philharmonic (where he is conductor-in-residence), as well as the Brașov, Râmnicu-Vâlcea, Arad, Craiova, Pitești, and Bacău philharmonics. He is also a guest conductor at both the Bucharest National Opera and the Romanian National Opera in Iași, principal conductor of the Experimental Opera Studio “Ludovic Spiess”, and a regular guest at the Comic Opera for Children in Bucharest.

In 2021, he made his debut at the Romanian Athenaeum, conducting the Romanian Youth Orchestra and the Chamber Choir “Preludiu – Voicu Enăchescu” — becoming one of the youngest conductors to appear on that stage.

He is currently pursuing his PhD at the National University of Music Bucharest, having begun his research under Prof. Dan Buciu and continuing under Prof. Olguța Lupu, while also teaching as an associate professor at the same university. He studied in Romania at the National University of Music Bucharest and Switzerland at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana, and has participated in masterclasses in France, Italy, and beyond.

His training includes work with Paavo, Neeme and Kristjan Järvi, Cristian Măcelaru, François-Xavier Roth, Cristian Mandeal, Martin Sieghart, Léo Warynski and Alan Gilbert, among other distinguished conductors, through programs such as the Järvi Academy, RCO Conducting Program, Athens International Conducting Masterclass & Competition, Fondation Royaumont Academy, and NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Masterclass.

He conducted the Papal Mass during Pope Francis’ visit to Romania, receiving the Archbishop’s Cross.
