PIANO COMPETITION
THE
ROUNDS OF THE COMPETITION
The piano competition consists of
two eliminatory rounds, the semifinal and the final-concert
with the orchestra.
The first round (eliminatory) will take place on August
30th, 31st 2009 and September 1st. Each competitor will
perform a program that can not exceed 40 minutes.
The second round (eliminatory) will take place on September
2nd 2009. Each competitor will perform a program that can
not exceed 50 minutes.
The Semifinal will take place on September 3rd 2009.
Each competitor will perform a program that can not exceed 40
minutes.
The rehearsal with the orchestra for the final round of the
competition will take place on September 4th 2009.
The Final of the Competition - concert
with the orchestra - will take place on September 5th 2009.
The Competition Board will announce the results of each round
immediately after the jury’s deliberation.
THE
REPERTOIRE
The works included in the registration form are final and can
not be changed.
Each competitor will establish the order of the works to be
performed in each round.
First round
• Bach - Prelude and Fugue from "The Well–tempered
Clavier" (Book I or II)
• One sonata by Haydn or Mozart or 3 (three) sonatas by
Scarlatti chosen by the competitor
• One etude chosen by the competitor among Chopin or Liszt
• One etude chosen by the competitor among Skryabin or
Debussy
Second round
• Beethoven - a Sonata chosen by the competitor (excepting
op. 10/1, op.14/1, op.14/2, op.49/1, op.49/2, op.78, op.90,
op.106)
•A work by a romantic composer among: Schumann, Schubert,
Liszt, Brahms, Chopin, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy or Franck.
Semifinal
• Enescu - Suite op.10 (minimum two movements,
at competitor’s choice).
• A work by a composer of the 20th century among: Rachmaninoff,
Prokofieff, Skryabin, Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, Janacek
• Ad libitum: Enescu - Sonata no. 1 or no. 3,
on top of the lasting time established for this round.
Final - Concert with orchestra
• A concert by one of the following composers: Mozart,
Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Grieg, Brahms, Tchaikovsky,
Rachmaninoff (Concert no. 2 or no. 3), Prokofieff
(Concert no. 2) or Bartók (Concert no. 3)
