At the “George Enescu” International Festival, 2015 edition, on the stage of the Small Theatre in Bucharest, a special performance will premiere, “Un minut de dans sau Uf”, with the choreography of Gigi Căciuleanu, who aims to celebrate 50 years since his debut as a dancer on the stage of the same theatre, in Miriam Răducanu’s choreography.

Gigi Căciuleanu celebrates 50 years on stage, returning to the Small Theatre, as a dancer with his new choreography, aimed to follow the tradition of the “9½ Nocturnes”, created by Miriam Răducanu, to whom he dedicates this show. The music is created by Paul Ilea, and the performers will be Gigi Căciuleanu, Paul Ilea, Irina Ştefan and Răzvan Stoian, choreography assistant, Lelia Marcu-Vladu. The show is produced by the Art Production Foundation, in partnership with the Small Theatre.

The premiere will take place on September 5 and 6, at 20:00, at the Small Theatre.

“Staging the choreographic play is almost ready. All that’s missing is a minute of dancing, before the final part. This minute of dancing will be reinvented by the choreographer at every show, in front of the audience. And the protagonists, the composer of the music and the two dancers will have to ‘deal with it,’ to adapt in an ‘emergency situation,’ to his momentary fantasy, remembering the choreographic and music score, both of them invented at the last moment, having to integrate it and perform it as well as possible, to be able to present the play in its final form, immediately, to the audience,” says Gigi Căciuleanu.

At every show, the choreographer and the composer will have to ‘dip their feet in cold water’ to produce every time, in front of the audience, something completely different

“At every show, the choreographer and the composer will have to ‘dip their feet in cold water’ to produce every time, in front of the audience, something completely different. The music is created by the ‘orchestra man’ Paul Ilea (SENSOR / KULT STUDIO), whom the choreographer asked to start from the best known and most popular themes of his ‘colleague’ in music and mischief, Mozart, and then develop them in his own way, with as much ‘lovely irreverence’ as possible.

Actually the show is conceived around the complicated and often ‘mad’ creative process necessary to obtain even a single minute of dancing. Thanks to this improvisation every evening, in order to create a minute of dancing, the shows will become as different from one another as possible… Therefore, each show will be one-of-a-kind. A re-creation every evening, for the spectators… The labour of creation for the artists! Ugh!” concludes Gigi Căciuleanu his invitation to the show.
