“One Minute of Dance or UF!!!”

A SHOW MADE BY GIGI CĂCIULEANU

with:Gigi Căciuleanu, Paul Ilea, Irina Stefan and Răzvan Stoian

Music: Paul Ilea

coreograph assistant: Lelia Marcu- Vladu

Exactly fifty (50) years ago, Gigi Căciuleanu debuted as a dancer on the stage of the Small Theater under the choreography of by Miriam Răducanu.
Gigi is celebrating 50 years of stage performances, returning to the Small Theatre as an interpreter with new the choreographic creation “One Minute of Dance or UF!!!”
A show which he wanted to perform in the tradition of “Nocturnes 9½” staged by the extraordinary Miriam Răducanu to whom he dedicates this performance.

The mounting of a choreographic piece is almost finished.

All it missed is one minute of dance, before the final part.

The choreograph will reinvent this minute of dance at every show, in the presence of the audience. The protagonists, the composer of the music and the couple of dancers will have to rise up to the challenge, adapt to the “state of emergency” and fantasy in the moment, having to memorize both the choreographic and the musical part, both of them invented on the spot, to integrate and interpret, to the best of their ability. So we can present it immediately to the audience in its final form.

With every show, the choreographer and the composer will have to put their feet in cold water so that they are able to produce every time, in the presence of the audience, something completely different.

The music belongs to the “orchestra man” Paul Ilea (SENSOR / KULT STUDIO) whom the   choreographer asked to start from the themes of his very famous and popular colleague in music and playfulness: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. But also to develop it in his own way with “loving irreverence”.

The whole concept of the show revolves around the complicated  and often “mad” creating process necessary to obtain even one single minute of dance.

Because of this every night improvisation, in order to create one minute of dance, the shows will become very different one from the other.

AND, THEREFORE, EVERY SHOW WILL BE UNIQUE

A re-creation in every night, for the audience… The torment of creation for the artists! Uf!!!

Münchhausen – Lord of lies

Münchhausen is fantastic, his imagination reaches infinity. Pinocchio lies to get out of trouble; Münchhausen creates new worlds, his lies are generating myths and inspiring our imagination, children of all ages.

So is the music of Dan Dediu, a perpetual fantasy, a passage from one register to another, in fact, a crossing of the entire history of music, from baroque to the present day. The composer assumes the musical direction of this complex score.

Director Cristian Mihăilescu imagines a constant competition between the “real” world of the theater and the “ghost” of television. Is there really a winner? The intermingling between the real world and the chimera is similar to cartoons. For this reason, the show is modern, with a classic theme and new techniques, that are part of the entire production stage. The choreography is signed by Răzvan Mazilu, stage design by Andreea Rotaru (sets) and Daniela Drăgulescu (costumes) and production design and video projections are made by Valentin Obretin, Bogdan Nedelcu and Alin Constantinescu.
