The young soprano Adela Zaharia studied singing and piano at “Gh. Dima” Music Academy, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. While still studying, she made her opera debut in 2010 at the National Opera of Cluj-Napoca with Gilda (Rigoletto, G. Verdi), followed by Norina (Don Pasquale,  Donizetti ), Musetta (La Bohème, Puccini), and Michaela (Carmen, Bizet).

Immediately after receiving her Master’s Degree, she continued her training at the Komische Oper Berlin’s opera studio (2012-2014), where she was given the opportunity of reprising roles like Musetta and Michaela, in addition to Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream,  Britten), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte , Mozart ), and other middle and small parts.

Adela Zaharia becomes a regular guest of the Komische Oper Berlin (2014) and at the beginning of 2015/16 she is invited to join the Ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she made her debut as Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Mozart), Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti) and  Donna Anna (Don Giovanni, Mozart).

She also continues her collaboration with the Komische Oper, touring with Barrie Kosky’s “Die Zauberflöte” and making her debut as Princess Elsbeth in Offenbach’s operetta “Fantasio”.

Adela Zaharia also has a broad concert repertoire, with performed works like Orff’s „Carmina Burana”, Beethoven’s „Symphony no. 9”, Händel’s „ The Messiah”, Bach’s „Matthäus Passion”, Brahms’, „Ein Deutsches Requiem”, Mozart’s „Requiem”, Mendelssohn’s  „Lobgesang”,  „Das Paradies und die Peri” by R. Schumann (Peri) , just to mention a few.

She won the “Grand Prix” of the “Haricleea Darclée” International Competition in 2012.

With her role debuts of Lucia di Lammermoor and Elsbeth she enchanted both the audiences and the critics.
